Network Operations Lead (Fibre / FTTH)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Network Operations Lead to own the design, performance and reliability of our fibre network. You will keep customers online, support expansion into new areas and proactively resolve issues before they impact service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee design, planning and rollout of FTTH/FTTx networks, including route surveys, splitter planning and power budgeting.
• Manage and configure OLTs, ONUs/ONTs, core and edge routers, and switches from vendors such as Huawei, ZTE, MikroTik, Cisco or Juniper.
• Supervise aerial and underground cable deployment, splicing, termination and ensure installations meet quality standards.
• Monitor network performance, uptime and capacity, and act early on problems to prevent outages.
• Lead fault response, perform root‑cause analysis and produce concise incident reports.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules and keep network documentation up to date.
• Coach field technicians and contractors, manage equipment inventory and assist in vendor selection.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, IT or related field.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with fibre optic systems at an ISP, telco or fibre contractor.
• Willingness to perform field work and be on‑call for critical outages.

Required skills

• Practical experience with GPON/EPON OLTs (Huawei, ZTE, VSOL, BDCOM) and routers (MikroTik, Cisco, Juniper).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF/BGP, PPPoE, DHCP and RADIUS‑based subscriber management.
• Proficiency using OTDR, power meter and fusion splicer, and interpreting fibre test results.
• Basic scripting (Python, Bash) and familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, LibreNMS, PRTG or Grafana.
• Relevant certifications (MTCNA/MTCRE, CCNA, HCIA, CFOT) and experience with GIS/network mapping tools (e.g., QGIS) are a plus.
