Oncology Nurse

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team in a busy cancer care setting. The role involves delivering specialized treatments, monitoring patient responses, and providing education to patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology-specific treatments following strict protocols.
• Monitor, assess, and manage treatment‑related side effects and oncology emergencies.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to develop and review comprehensive patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families on treatment regimens, home‑care management, and coping strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and treatment outcomes in the hospital information system.
• Ensure infection control and safety standards when handling hazardous medications.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) / Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN).
• Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya and a current practicing license.
• Recognition/registration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
• Minimum five years of hands‑on clinical experience in a busy oncology unit or cancer centre.

Required skills

• Advanced IV cannulation and central venous access device (CVAD) management.
• In‑depth knowledge of oncology pharmacology, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy agents.
