Operational Risk Advisor

About the role

We are seeking an Operational Risk Advisor to support the Head of Operational and Resilience Risk in delivering the bank’s operational risk strategy across Kenya. The role involves providing specialist advice, embedding risk culture, and ensuring compliance with the Operational and Resilience Risk Management Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational risk advisory services, educate business line‑management on risk tools, and embed ownership of risk across all units.
• Assist in coordinating operational risk activities, deliver regular reports, and support budgeting and cost management.
• Represent the Head of Operational and Resilience Risk in executive meetings and respond to regulatory consultations.
• Analyse risk trends, oversee event reporting through the Operational Risk Management System, and drive proactive mitigation plans.

Required profile

• Graduate level education with a certification in risk management.
• Minimum two years of experience in banking, preferably in operational and resilience risk management, control, governance, auditing or compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in fraud prevention, performance management and project management.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of operational and resilience risk policies and the African region risk strategy.
• Knowledge of banking products, processes, systems and relevant legislation.
• Ability to construct reports, executive summaries and briefs; data analytics and storytelling.
