Operations & Facilities Manager – Centre for Nature Economy

About the role

The Operations & Facilities Manager will ensure the Centre for Nature Economy runs safely, efficiently and professionally for learners, researchers, partners and visitors. Based on‑site in Nanyuki, the role combines day‑to‑day operational oversight with leadership of the facilities team and management of external service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily centre operations, guaranteeing a safe, welcoming environment for all users.
• Oversee visitor services, accommodation, hospitality, catering and housekeeping.
• Coordinate operational needs for training sessions, meetings, events and residential programmes.
• Maintain buildings, grounds, water, wastewater, electricity, renewable energy and ICT infrastructure.
• Plan and execute preventative maintenance, repairs and facility improvements.
• Supervise fleet and other operational assets, ensuring compliance and proper record‑keeping.
• Implement health, safety and security procedures, including emergency response.
• Manage procurement, budgeting and financial reporting for operational expenses.
• Lead the operational team, provide performance management and develop staff.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, partners and regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations and facilities management, preferably in a research, education or non‑profit setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team and coordinate contractors and service providers.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and security standards.
• Experience managing budgets, procurement processes and asset registers.
