Operations Manager (International Commodity Trading)

About the role

We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our international commodity trading operations in Nairobi. The role oversees end‑to‑end shipment execution, coordinates with internal trading, treasury and finance teams, and ensures compliance with Kenyan and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support the daily activities of the operations team, managing workload and accountability.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues and resolve them efficiently.
• Coordinate cross‑functional processes with trading, treasury, and trade finance to design and implement efficient workflows.
• Communicate, document and enforce clear operational processes across all teams.
• Oversee end‑to‑end shipment execution, including containers, trucking, bulk and break‑bulk movements.
• Manage relationships with international suppliers, clients and service providers.
• Maintain accurate system updates, documentation and payment follow‑ups.
• Monitor stock movements, reconciliations and operational controls.
• Ensure compliance with local (Kenya) and international regulations.
• Train, guide and develop the team to improve performance and clarity.
• Identify issues proactively and implement sustainable long‑term solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Logistics, International Relations, Commerce or Trade.
• 3–5 years of operations experience with proven leadership in supply chain or multi‑commodity environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and hands‑on approach.
• Experience with international logistics, multi‑country operations and shipping lines, 3PLs and transport coordination.
• Knowledge of Kenyan and international regulations, stock management and operational controls.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with operational systems and IT tools.
