Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operational functions of a vocational training institution, ensuring smooth coordination between academic and administrative units while driving efficiency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall operational management, establishing policies, systems and administrative frameworks.
• Coordinate academic support services and ensure collaboration between teaching and admin departments.
• Design and oversee admissions, registration, scheduling, examinations, certification and graduation processes.
• Manage facilities, classrooms, workshops, laboratories, equipment and learning resources.
• Ensure compliance with education regulations, accreditation standards and institutional policies.
• Control budgets, operational expenditures, procurement and resource utilisation.
• Develop operational KPIs, generate performance reports for senior management.
• Supervise administrative, support and operations staff, fostering accountability.
• Oversee student support services, health, safety, security and risk management.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, training partners, suppliers and service providers.
• Support business development, institutional growth and strategic partnerships.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Managing Director.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education Management, Operations Management, Public Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a vocational training, TVET, technical college or similar educational institution.
• Proven experience establishing or scaling operations in a newly created institution (advantageous).
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage institutional operations.
• Strong knowledge of educational administration, operational planning and governance.
