Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will oversee the daily movement of finished goods from the warehouse to the customer doorstep, ensuring delivery promises are met while managing vehicle, driver, storage, and fuel constraints. This role sits at the heart of a fast‑moving consumer goods distribution network, translating order volumes into efficient route plans and maintaining accurate stock records.

Key responsibilities

• Build and adjust daily distribution plans, sequencing loading, dispatch, and route allocation to meet customer windows.
• Track delivery performance route by route, using turnaround times and service data to re‑plan schedules and close gaps.
• Manage the vehicle fleet end‑to‑end, monitoring utilisation, preventive maintenance, fuel consumption and legal compliance.
• Run warehouse operations (receiving, put‑away, dispatch) applying FIFO/FEFO rotation and coordinating stock counts.
• Protect inventory accuracy by reconciling records, investigating variances and reducing losses from damage, shrinkage and expiry.
• Control operational costs through budgeting, fuel and maintenance spend analysis, and identifying savings opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management or related field (Diploma accepted).
• 5–8 years of FMCG distribution experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Valid driving licence.
• Experience managing large vehicle fleets and running warehouse operations with FIFO/FEFO knowledge.
