Optometrist – EQA Utawala

About the role

Equity Afia is seeking a qualified Optometrist to join its EQA Utawala clinic in Westlands, Nairobi. You will provide comprehensive eye‑care services, diagnose eye conditions, prescribe corrective lenses and deliver appropriate treatments to help patients maintain good vision.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough eye examinations for patients of all ages.
• Diagnose common and complex eye conditions.
• Prescribe and fit corrective lenses accurately.
• Provide treatment and counseling for eye‑related issues.
• Maintain detailed patient records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with OAK/KHPOA regulations and clinic standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in Optometry (or equivalent associate degree).
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience.
• Licensed Optometrist with the Optometrists’ Association of Kenya (OAK) or Kenya Health Professionals Oversight Authority (KHPOA).
• Proficient in computer applications and record‑keeping.
• Strong knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology and common eye conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
