About the role

The City of Dayton is seeking a reliable Part‑Time Building Attendant to join its Public Works department. You will help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of municipal buildings and surrounding grounds through routine custodial and minor maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial care, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste removal in indoor and outdoor areas.
• Carry out minor maintenance duties such as moving furniture, restocking supplies, and basic repairs.
• Ensure building safety by promptly addressing hazards and reporting larger issues.
• Operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Work in varying weather conditions as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and carrying.
• Willingness to undergo a background check, drug screening, and nicotine testing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of standard custodial and janitorial cleaning methods.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, materials, and safe work practices.
• Operation of janitorial equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor scrubbers).
