Pathologist

About the role

The Pathologist will deliver high‑quality diagnostic services within a Level 4 outpatient facility. You will ensure accurate, timely results that support clinical decision‑making and patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret, validate and report laboratory investigations across hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology and molecular diagnostics.
• Provide specialist consultation on complex cases and advise clinicians on appropriate testing.
• Communicate critical results promptly to treating teams.
• Maintain compliance with SOPs, KENAS and SANAS accreditation standards.
• Monitor quality control, turnaround times and performance indicators.
• Participate in external quality assurance programs and laboratory audits.
• Support antimicrobial stewardship and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Engage in multidisciplinary meetings, CME activities and mentor laboratory staff.
• Contribute to service development, audits and evidence‑based practice.

Required profile

• MBChB (or equivalent) and MMed (or equivalent) in General/Clinical Pathology.
• Registered with KMPDC as a specialist with a valid practicing licence.
• Minimum five years post‑specialisation experience in a hospital or accredited laboratory.
