Lead, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

About the role

The Lead, MHPSS provides senior technical leadership and day‑to‑day oversight of Save the Children’s global mental health and psychosocial support to country offices. Reporting to the Head, Learn Breakthrough, the postholder manages a team of advisors, ensuring high‑quality, timely, context‑appropriate support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead provision of technical support to Country Offices, maintaining high standards and adapting strategies to evolving needs.
• Line‑manage a team of technical experts, fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment and promoting continuous professional development.
• Ensure rapid‑onset emergency technical support and coordinate team efforts across multiple awards and activities.
• Deputise for the Head, Learn Breakthrough, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
• Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion within the team and programme interventions.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to innovate and integrate new sector solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing, implementing and evaluating humanitarian and development programmes in complex contexts.
• Proven technical expertise in sector‑specific interventions and ability to adjust strategies to evolving priorities.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with experience overseeing global strategic initiatives.
• Analytical ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
• Demonstrated success in developing high‑quality proposals and strategic plans for donor‑funded projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
