Pharmaceutical Technologist

About the role

The Hospital Pharmacy is seeking a qualified Pharmaceutical Technologist to support safe medication dispensing, maintain drug inventory and contribute to the overall quality of patient care within a busy orthopaedic and trauma environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in filling, processing and dispensing medications in accordance with safety standards.
• Maintain drug inventory through robust inventory control practices.
• Initiate procurement processes for medications and ensure timely re‑ordering.
• Verify that all drug requests are accompanied by a valid prescription.
• Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) to stay updated on pharmaceutical practices.
• Collaborate with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board for pharmacovigilance and adverse‑reaction reporting.
• Prepare monthly reports on sales, expenses, breakages and expiries.
• Manage expired drugs, obsolete items, stock movements, stock‑outs and returns.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and hold a valid practising licence.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Membership of the Kenya Pharmaceutical Association is an added advantage.
