PhD Peer Reviewer – Physical Geography

About the role

This is a long‑term, stable part‑time position that allows you to work remotely as a peer reviewer for manuscripts in Physical Geography. You will support the editorial process by providing expert, constructive feedback on submitted research papers.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the novelty of each manuscript and determine its contribution to the field.
• Evaluate study design, methodology, and reproducibility.
• Check that the literature review is comprehensive and up‑to‑date.
• Analyse results and conclusions for clarity, validity, and significance.
• Provide clear, concise, and constructive written feedback to authors.
• Identify any ethical concerns, omissions, or methodological flaws.
• Recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection to the journal editor.

Required profile

• Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in Physical Geography or a closely related discipline.
• At least five peer‑reviewed publications in SCI/SSCI journals within the past three years.
• Strong understanding of research methodologies and ethical standards.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and written communication abilities.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
• Commitment to confidentiality and objectivity.
• Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems (e.g., ScholarOne, Editorial Manager).
