Pipefitter / Steamfitter – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is looking for a qualified Pipefitter/Steamfitter to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining and certifying boilers, unfired pressure vessels and associated steam and water generation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Certify boilers and unfired pressure vessels (UPVs) in compliance with UFC 3-430-07 or P-606 requirements.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Steam Generation Plant and Demineralized Water Plant equipment.
• Inspect, repair and replace piping, valves, pumps and related components.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions, diagnose faults and execute timely repairs.
• Conduct welding, cutting, bending and pressure testing as needed.
• Run hydrostatic and pressure tests to verify system integrity.
• Monitor and maintain control systems for optimal steam and water generation performance.
• Follow technical directives, plans and manuals for all work activities.
• Document maintenance actions, certifications and operational logs.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe workspace.

Required profile

• Qualification to certify boilers and UPVs per UFC 3-430-07 or P-606.
• Proven experience with steam systems, water generation systems and complex piping infrastructure.
• Knowledge of pipefitting and steamfitting principles, including welding, cutting, bending and pressure testing.
• Understanding of safety standards for high‑pressure systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English reading, speaking and comprehension.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity at hiring.
