Planner – Transport Dispatcher

About the role

The Planner (Transport Dispatcher) will coordinate the movement of goods for DHL Supply Chain East Africa. You will be responsible for creating efficient routes, communicating with drivers, and ensuring on‑time deliveries while minimizing costs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and optimise transportation routes considering distance, traffic, and time constraints.
• Communicate detailed route instructions and special delivery requirements to drivers.
• Monitor driver progress in real time and address any deviations or incidents promptly.
• Use Transportation Management System (TMS) and tracking tools to follow shipments and respond to disruptions.
• Generate regular KPI reports on transportation efficiency and maintain accurate records of deliveries, delays, and incidents.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues and support change initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with drivers and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Experience using real‑time tracking tools.
• Knowledge of route planning principles and cost optimisation.
