Plumber (Hospital)

About the role

The Plumber will be responsible for assessing, managing, repairing and upgrading the plumbing systems of CURE’s hospital in Kiambu, Kenya. This full‑time position ensures a continuous supply of clean water, proper sanitation, and reliable operation of all water‑related equipment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure continuous supply of sufficient and clean water throughout the hospital premises.
• Perform preventive maintenance on fixtures, predict clogged drains, repair leaking faucets and replace worn components.
• Read water meters, record usage and report consumption.
• Install, assemble, cut, thread and groove pipes and fittings to meet project goals.
• Repair and replace plumbing, heating and pipe‑fitting systems, including high‑pressure steam, hot‑water heating and drainage networks.
• Maintain culinary water systems, test and repair backflow‑prevention devices.
• Manage inventory of plumbing supplies, order replacements and complete related paperwork.
• Supervise external contractors, monitor progress and ensure work meets hospital standards and timelines.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience in hospital or commercial plumbing environments.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, engineer repair methods and process work orders electronically.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and hygiene standards.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with contractors and internal teams.
