Plumber I‑II (Grade 18‑20) – Facility Maintenance

About the role

Under general supervision, the Plumber I‑II provides comprehensive plumbing and gas‑fitting services for school and building equipment systems. The position is offered at two grades (18 and 20) and involves both independent work and occasional mentoring of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, install, repair, replace, build, prefabricate, and maintain plumbing and gas‑fitting equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on school and facility mechanical systems.
• Handle heavy physical tasks, including lifting objects up to 50 lb and working in extreme temperatures or hazardous environments.
• Assist in training and mentoring less‑experienced plumber/gas‑fitter employees.
• Follow extensive safety precautions and use protective equipment as required.

Required profile

• Valid Backflow Prevention Certification and an active Journeyman Plumber License.
• High School diploma or GED; completion of an apprentice‑level plumbing/gas‑fitting program.
• For Grade 18: four years of progressive plumbing experience, including two years at Apprentice II level.
• Ability to work beyond a 40‑hour week and to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Availability for a day shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
