Portfolio Recovery Manager

About the role

The Portfolio Recovery Manager will lead Oya Microcredit's recovery team, ensuring timely collection of delinquent loans while preserving client relationships. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of field and call‑center activities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Portfolio Recovery team and monitor loan portfolios for delinquency.
• Develop and implement recovery strategies to reduce non‑performing loans.
• Guide staff in client outreach via calls, messages, and field visits.
• Approve repayment plans and ensure accurate record‑keeping of all recovery actions.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with Credit and Operations teams to reconcile payments and improve portfolio quality.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including credit reporting standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field (mandatory).
• Professional certification in Credit Risk Management or Debt Collection/Recovery is an advantage.
• CPA (K) or ACCA qualification is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in collections, portfolio management or credit.
• Proven experience in loan portfolio monitoring, debt recovery and delinquency management, preferably in a micro‑credit or financial institution.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with reporting tools.
• Familiarity with loan management systems.
