Post Clerk OCN – Mail Services Lead

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Post Clerk OCN – Mail Services Lead Clerk to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures timely delivery, distribution, and handling of mail, supplies, and materials in a secure, operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily operational support for mail services, ensuring timely delivery and distribution of mail, parcels, and supplies.
• Oversee receipt, processing, sorting, tracking, and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail in line with SOPs, safety, and security requirements.
• Supervise mail services personnel handling collection, sorting, metering, scanning, and delivery activities.
• Guide proper use of mail equipment such as postage meters, scales, and barcode scanners.
• Train, mentor, and support staff on all Mail Services functions and procedures.
• Address employee concerns and operational challenges to maintain a productive work environment.
• Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Required profile

• Completion of required training and qualification per DoD Postal Manual 4525.6‑M and USPS Domestic Mail Manual.
• Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service operations, postage metering equipment, and domestic/international mailing requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage routine operational issues, and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience handling cash and maintaining financial accountability.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 70 lb for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules based on operational and flight needs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
