Post Clerk OCN Mail Services Lead

About the role

The Post Clerk OCN Mail Services Lead provides daily operational support for mail, parcel and supply delivery for a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures timely, secure and accurate handling of all postal items in a remote, high‑tempo environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee receipt, processing, sorting, tracking and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, parcels and packages according to SOPs, safety and security requirements.
• Supervise mail services personnel, providing guidance on collection, sorting, metering, scanning and delivery activities.
• Maintain and train staff on mail equipment such as postage meters, scales and barcode scanners.
• Address employee concerns, resolve operational challenges and promote teamwork across the organization.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and minimum three years of experience in mail services or postal operations.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to work independently, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 70 lb, and meet contract medical and security requirements.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service operations, postage metering equipment and mail processing procedures.
• Familiarity with DoD Postal Manual 4525.6‑M and USPS Domestic Mail Manual requirements.
• Experience handling cash and maintaining financial accountability.
• Proficiency with mail equipment such as scales, barcode scanners and related systems.
