Post Harvest Lead – Agriculture Operations

About the role

The Post Harvest Lead will oversee all post‑harvest activities for Syngenta Kenya, ensuring optimal handling, storage and processing of crops. This role combines technical oversight with team leadership to drive efficiency and quality across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and train the post‑harvest team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the post‑harvest department, including machine handling and maintenance.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align post‑harvest processes with overall production goals.
• Monitor and analyse production data, using Excel, Smart‑sheet and Power BI to identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain detailed administrative records and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Support pest and disease monitoring by recognising symptoms and applying appropriate interventions.

Required profile

• MSc in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Crop Protection, Biology or related field.
• 4–5 years of relevant experience in post‑harvest or related agricultural operations.
• Strong analytical mindset with an affinity for numbers and detail.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proven people‑management experience, capable of leading and developing teams.
• Understanding of tomato physiology, pest and disease symptom recognition.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS‑Excel.
• Experience with Smart‑sheet.
• Ability to create dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Basic knowledge of seed technology and post‑harvest machinery.
