Principal HR Management & Development Officer

About the role

The National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is recruiting a Principal Human Resource Management and Development Officer for a full-time management-level position in Nairobi. The role leads HR operations and workforce development. Applications close on 16 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to human resource management strategies, policies and procedures
• Take part in recruitment, selection, induction and placement
• Implement training and development programmes aligned with company strategy
• Review and coordinate the performance management system
• Maintain the HR information system and implement HR rules and regulations
• Administer employment contracts, pensions and gratuities and supervise payroll processing
• Manage probation, confirmation, promotion and exit processes
• Promote positive employee relations, values and work ethics
• Facilitate job evaluation, provide employee counselling and ensure compliance with statutory obligations
• Develop and manage staff welfare programmes and contribute to staffing analysis and succession planning

Required profile

• Cumulative 9 years of relevant experience, including 3 years at Senior HR Officer level or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Social Sciences, or a postgraduate diploma in HRM
• Membership of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM) or equivalent, in good standing
• Completion of a recognised 4-week management course

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer applications
