Principal

About the role

The Principal is the lead educator and administrator of the school, responsible for implementing and managing its policies, regulations and procedures. The role ensures a safe, child-centered learning environment following approved curricula and institutional directives, and covers strategic planning, curriculum development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial oversight, emergency procedures, resource scheduling and facilities operations. As Secretary of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Principal also provides strategic direction and leadership to the school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional guidance and leadership, act as the school's official spokesperson, and take responsibility for student enrollment growth and pastoral care.
• Plan and oversee the curriculum, timetable and school day, keeping up to date with the 8-4-4/CBC and IGCSE systems, and oversee examinations and script dispatch.
• Teach relevant subjects where required, evaluate curriculum delivery and give post-examination feedback.
• Foster staff collaboration, open communication with parents and the community, and resolve conflicts promptly.
• Recruit, mentor, supervise and appraise staff at least twice a year, and make recommendations on contract termination or non-renewal.
• Manage budgets, records, facilities, equipment, boarding provisions and compliance with government policies.
• Ensure student welfare, enforce the Student Code of Conduct, and work with parents on student issues.
• Develop annual performance objectives, train teachers, and represent the school to the community and the Education Department.
