Process Technician

About the role

Sun King is seeking a Process Technician to support the transfer and optimisation of smartphone manufacturing processes in Kenya. You will work closely with local and global teams to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality production.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct line balancing and station cycle‑time studies, reporting hourly output efficiency.
• Analyse defective smartphones, recommend actions to reduce in‑line defect rates.
• Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and procedures to eliminate inefficiencies.
• Partner with Quality to address product concerns and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
• Coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI) and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Collaborate with the Process Engineer to maintain compliance with SOPs, shutdown processes, and training programs.
• Prepare various reports, including NPI, line efficiency, root‑cause investigations, and incident documentation.
• Maintain smartphone troubleshooting and repair documentation for knowledge‑base creation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related field.
• Knowledge of process simulation techniques and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience designing jigs and fixtures to improve process efficiency.
• Proven experience conducting root‑cause investigations using recognised methodologies.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and attention‑to‑detail.
• Familiarity with Kaizen, 6S, production machinery, and manufacturing safety standards.
