Product Specialist (Specs, Design and Testing) - Hybrid
FacilityOps · Comté de Nairobi
Job description
About the role
FacilityOps.AI builds wheeled inspection robots for data centers, which inspect fiber, electrical, mechanical and fire systems and turn what they see into evidence used by customers for handover and live operations. The Product Specialist turns each robot feature into something the team can build, the customer can use and sales can show: writing specs, designing screens, checking that the built product matches the spec, testing features by hand and producing demo videos. The role is not a coding role, reports to the Engineering Manager and works every day with robotics, perception and software engineers, as well as sales and management. It is hybrid, 2 to 3 days a week in the Nairobi office.
Key responsibilities
- Write technical specs for every feature (purpose, inputs, outputs, behaviour, edge cases, limits, acceptance criteria), break them into tasks and keep them current
- Write customer-facing feature descriptions in plain English (ASD-STE100 experience is a plus)
- Design operator dashboards, inspection findings, reports, the 3D twin view and robot control screens; produce wireframes, high-fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes in Figma, keeping a consistent design system
- Review finished features against their specs and acceptance criteria, give clear feedback and follow code changes at a basic level
- Produce short product videos and feature demos, capturing and editing footage of the robot on site, using AI video and animation tools
- Write test checklists, test features by hand on the robot and in the app, log defects with reproduction steps and screenshots or video, re-test before each release and sign off features
Required profile
- 2+ years in product management, business analysis, UX design, QA testing or a similar role
- Experience writing feature specs or requirements that engineers build from
- Experience testing software or hardware products by hand and writing clear defect reports
- Clear, concise writing for engineers and non-technical readers
- Comfortable with technical products and quick to learn how a robot and its sensors work
Required skills
- UI/UX skills with a portfolio of product screens in Figma
- Video production and editing (e.g. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut)
- Nice to have: ability to read code (Python or TypeScript), robotics, computer vision or sensor data experience, data center infrastructure knowledge, NFPA 70B / NFPA 25 / ASHRAE familiarity, 3D tools such as Blender
To apply, send a resume, a design portfolio, a sample spec or technical document and one video sample. Salary is $700 to $1,100 per month.
