Production Manager – Paint Manufacturing

About the role

The Production Manager will lead the paint manufacturing plant in Nairobi, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency. This senior‑level position requires a strong background in paint or coatings production and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily paint manufacturing operations to achieve production targets efficiently and safely.
• Manage production planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, formulations and manufacturing specifications.
• Monitor plant performance, productivity, downtime and waste‑reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with procurement, maintenance, warehouse, quality assurance and supply‑chain teams.
• Implement and maintain safety, health and environmental compliance standards.
• Lead, train and supervise production staff and shift teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise operational efficiency and control costs.
• Prepare production reports, KPIs and operational analysis for management review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in paint or coatings manufacturing.
• Proven experience managing production operations, including planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Strong understanding of paint formulations, batching, mixing, grinding, tinting and packaging processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and process optimisation.
