Production Supervisor / Assistant Plant Manager

About the role

Our client, a manufacturing consultancy based in Nairobi, is looking for a Production Supervisor/Assistant Plant Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensure production targets are met efficiently and maintain high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement cost‑effective manufacturing processes and monitor production schedules.
• Supervise and motivate production staff to achieve performance goals.
• Conduct training programmes to improve team skills and productivity.
• Enforce workplace discipline, resolve employee conflicts and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Work closely with the quality control team to address production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor raw material inventory, coordinate with procurement and optimise resource utilisation.
• Analyse production data to identify process‑improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance and efficiency.
• Assist in the implementation of new technologies and automation where required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in production planning and inventory control.
