Production Supervisor - Food Processing

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a leading food processing manufacturer, an experienced and hands-on Production Supervisor for its factory in Ukunda, Kwale County. The supervisor oversees daily factory operations, ensures efficient production and high product quality, optimizes processes and fosters a safe and productive work environment. The role reports to the Factory Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, coach and support production staff to meet daily targets; prepare work schedules and allocate resources; monitor performance and provide training.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor daily manufacturing activities, adjust workflows to changing demand and keep accurate production records.
• Ensure products meet quality standards, conduct routine inspections of processes and equipment, investigate quality issues and promote food safety requirements.
• Identify efficiency improvements and reduce waste, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Enforce health and safety policies, run safety briefings, ensure regulatory compliance and follow up on incidents.
• Maintain production records and reports, track key metrics and document issues, downtime and process changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field; relevant manufacturing experience may be considered instead.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food processing.
• Strong leadership, planning, organization, problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, proactive and accountable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of manufacturing operations and quality control principles.
• Experience using production management systems and reporting tools.
• Good understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
