Program Assistant – School Feeding Program (Kajiado County)

About the role

The Program Assistant will support the implementation and monitoring of Light Up Hope’s School Feeding Program in Kajiado County. Working directly with schools, the assistant ensures timely food deliveries, accurate data capture, and compliance with program standards while promoting sustainability initiatives such as kitchen gardens and poultry rearing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of school feeding activities according to approved plans.
• Coordinate food delivery, receipt verification, and basic quality checks at schools.
• Organise field activities, stakeholder meetings and community engagement events.
• Maintain and update beneficiary, enrolment and feeding records; ensure all monitoring tools are current.
• Conduct regular school visits to verify food storage, utilization and overall program compliance.
• Collect data for needs assessments, baselines and impact evaluations; contribute to quarterly and annual reports.
• Support sustainability components of the Sustainable School Meals Project, including kitchen gardens, crop farming and poultry rearing.

Required profile

• University diploma or degree in Food Security, Agronomy, Community Development, Nutrition, Social Work or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in school feeding, agriculture, community development or education in emergencies.
• Experience working in arid and semi‑arid (ASAL) regions is an advantage.
• Valid motorcycle riding license and willingness to travel by motorcycle for field visits.

Required skills

• Motorcycle operation (valid riding license).
