Program Director, Superhot Rock Geothermal

About the role

The Program Director will lead Clean Air Task Force’s global Superhot Rock Geothermal program, shaping strategy at the intersection of technology, policy, investment and market development to accelerate commercialization of carbon‑free geothermal energy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a long‑term strategy for CATF’s Geothermal Program, identifying emerging opportunities that accelerate commercialization and maximize climate impact.
• Translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes through planning, project oversight, resource allocation and delivery across a portfolio of initiatives.
• Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of staff and consultants, building organizational capabilities and supporting career growth.
• Serve as a trusted convener and honest broker among industry, government, academia, philanthropy and civil‑society stakeholders to foster collaboration.
• Advance policies, financing mechanisms, market conditions and technical collaborations that accelerate geothermal commercialization.
• Act as a public voice for CATF, elevating the visibility and influence of technical experts within the program.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex, multi‑stakeholder programs in clean energy or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of geothermal technologies, climate policy and investment landscapes.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high‑performing, interdisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and coalition‑building skills with diverse partners.
• Strategic thinking with a track record of delivering results at scale.
