About the role
The Programme Analyst will support UN Women’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) agenda in the East and Southern Africa region, focusing on linking women to the world of work and African Development Bank (AfDB) projects. Reporting to the Regional Policy Specialist and matrix‑reporting to the Country Representative in Sudan, the role will generate evidence, facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen partnerships to mainstream gender‑responsive approaches.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of programme strategies and design of project proposals on women’s economic empowerment.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of AfDB and other IFI proposals, concept notes and calls for proposals across the ESA region.
- Lead implementation of programme activities, including technical reviews, partner capacity assessments and results‑based management training.
- Develop advocacy materials, briefs and knowledge products; organise events, trainings and South‑South learning exchanges.
- Monitor programme progress, prepare monitoring reports and support resource mobilisation and donor reporting.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender or related field.
- Proven experience in programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in gender or development contexts.
- Strong knowledge of results‑based management and ability to analyse data and produce evidence‑based recommendations.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with experience in partnership building and resource mobilisation.
