Programme Management Officer – One Health

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to support its One Health agenda within the Nature and Health Unit of the Biodiversity and Land Branch, Ecosystems Division. Based in Nairobi, the incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Unit Chief to develop, implement and evaluate programmes that integrate environmental, animal and human health.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and proposing corrective actions.
• Conduct consulting assignments, facilitate workshops and assist clients in developing action plans for change management.
• Research, analyse and synthesize information from diverse sources to inform policy development and programme decisions.
• Design and execute surveys, develop data‑collection tools, analyse results and prepare conclusions.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analytical sections of reports, and inputs for publications.
• Provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda setting, participant identification and preparation of briefing materials.
• Lead outreach activities, deliver training workshops, seminars and presentations on assigned topics.
• Participate in or lead field missions, guiding external consultants and government partners.

Required profile

• Experience in programme or project development, implementation and evaluation.
• Familiarity with One Health concepts and ecosystem‑based solutions.
• Ability to conduct research, analyse data and produce clear written outputs.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
