Project Officer – Environmental Governance Programme

About the role

The Project Officer will support the implementation of UNDP Kenya’s Environmental Governance Programme (EGP), ensuring project activities are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor EGP activities against the workplan, budget and results framework.
• Provide technical oversight on integrating environmental, social, gender and human‑rights safeguards into mining sector governance.
• Prepare and review work plans, procurement plans and budgets, and track implementation progress.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation measures in consultation with team leads.
• Support strategic partnerships, resource mobilisation and South‑South cooperation initiatives.
• Draft progress, donor and annual reports and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) processes.

Required profile

• Experience in project coordination and implementation within environmental or natural resource management programmes.
• Knowledge of environmental, social and gender safeguards, ESIA processes and policy/legal reviews.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with governments, NGOs, donors and private sector partners.
