PV / BESS HMI Operator / Attendant

About the role

The PV / BESS HMI Operator ensures safe and efficient operation of utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) plants. Using dedicated Human Machine Interface (HMI) consoles, the operator monitors performance, maintains voltage compliance, and supports grid stability.

Key responsibilities

• Operate PV plant controls and HMI to collect data, optimise output, and maintain voltage tolerances.
• Operate BESS controls and HMI to regulate charging, discharge, and support PV smoothing functions.
• Perform watch‑standing duties, providing continuous oversight of both systems.
• Coordinate with technical teams to adjust plant settings and report operational feedback.
• Adhere to occupational safety and health standards, using PPE and reporting hazards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a solar and BESS operator (e.g., NABCEP Board Certification or equivalent).
• 1‑3 years experience operating utility‑scale PV and BESS platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems for PV and BESS.
• Knowledge of PV plant control systems.
• Knowledge of BESS control and monitoring systems.
• Understanding of grid voltage compliance and transient conditions.
