Real Estate Maintenance Worker – Civil Service Exam

About the role

The City of Cleveland is seeking candidates for the Real Estate Maintenance Worker examination. Successful applicants will be placed on an eligible list for future openings to maintain city-owned properties and green spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and chemical grass and weed cutting, operating a tractor as needed.
• Remove debris, rubbish, and manage waste using vehicles under 26,000 lb GVW.
• Use hand and power tools to maintain and repair city structures.
• Supervise seasonal staff and student workers assigned to maintenance tasks.
• Move furniture and equipment, provide janitorial and ground‑maintenance services.
• Assist with inventory control of supplies, equipment, and tools.
• Install equipment and fencing when required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of full‑time paid experience in green‑space upkeep.
• Knowledge of ground‑maintenance functions and related equipment.
• Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
