Recoveries Officer (Contract)

About the role
The Recoveries Officer (Contract) will pursue subrogation, negotiate recoveries, and manage legal collections for APA Life Assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain recovery records including registers, discharge vouchers, and incoming cheques.
- Monitor the recovery register to ensure matters are recoverable and not time‑barred.
- Respond to demand letters from third parties and insurance firms.
- Draft legal opinions on settlement proposals, knock‑for‑knock settlements, and court matters.
- Follow up with witnesses and arrange their attendance in court.
- Send reminders, follow‑ups, and reply to third‑party demands.
- Conduct negotiations and organise meetings with various parties.
- Appoint investigators and advocates as needed.
- Follow up on court documents and attend court when required.
- Process payments to insureds and advocates and review and close completed files.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Law or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, including 2 years in recoveries.
- Diploma in Legal Practice is an added advantage.
