Regional Communication Advisor – Food Policy Program (Africa)

About the role

The Regional Communication Advisor will lead Vital Strategies’ food policy communication initiatives across selected African countries, supporting strategic media campaigns and partnerships to promote healthier food environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate communication activities for the Food Policy Program in multiple African countries.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, partners, and regional allies.
• Provide technical assistance to in‑country and regional partners in developing and implementing communication strategies that amplify advocacy for policies such as sugary‑drink taxation, front‑of‑package labeling, marketing restrictions for children, and healthy food initiatives in schools.
• Collaborate with other Vital Strategies programmes and act as an ambassador for the organization’s work across Africa.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in Kenya at the time of hire.
• Experience in strategic communications, public‑health or food‑policy contexts.
• Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and support policy advocacy.
