Regional Coordinator - Coast Region

About the role

The Regional Coordinator (RC) serves as the area programme manager for Kenya’s Coast Region, overseeing the integrated eye health programme across Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Kwale counties. The role combines programme design, partnership management and team leadership to deliver donor‑funded initiatives that improve eye care services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the Foundation’s eye health projects at regional and county levels, ensuring alignment with national strategies and donor requirements.
• Coordinate work plans, fund transfers and budget alignment, maintaining accountability for partners and internal teams.
• Engage with county health departments, represent the Foundation at eye‑health forums and build partnerships with government, private hospitals and community organisations.
• Manage and mentor the regional team, overseeing procurement, reporting and performance monitoring.
• Develop tools to track project results, support partners in using surgical outcome data for quality improvement and promote equitable access for women, people with disabilities and other marginalised groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Development or Health Systems.
• 5–6 years of experience managing health programmes in an INGO context, preferably with eye‑health or health‑systems focus.
• Proven ability to work with devolved health sectors and county governments; experience in Kenya’s coastal counties is an advantage.
• Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive relationships with a wide network of partners and donors.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, able to convey technical material to diverse audiences.
