Regional Digital Communication Specialist

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Regional Digital Communication Specialist to lead and enhance its digital presence across Africa. You will develop and execute strategies that showcase the organization’s humanitarian work, engage audiences, and support information‑as‑aid initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional digital communication strategies to increase visibility of humanitarian activities.
• Create, edit, and publish multimedia content (stories, articles, photos, videos, social posts, GIFs) for web and social platforms.
• Manage official social media channels, engage communities, and maintain a consistent brand voice.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate integrated digital campaigns with clear KPIs.
• Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate content production with headquarters, regional teams, and country delegations.
• Provide technical and editorial guidance on digital storytelling, web publishing, and social media best practices.
• Ensure content is SEO‑optimized and support SEM efforts.
• Monitor trends and performance using analytics tools and produce regular performance reports.

Required profile

• University degree in communication or related field.
• 6–9 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in digital communication.
• Ability to analyse political and social environments.
• Excellent public speaking and ability to convey technical information in training settings.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; French or other languages a plus.
