Regional Finance Controller – Kenya

About the role

The Regional Finance Controller (RFC) provides financial oversight, governance and assurance across Islamic Relief’s country offices and implementing partners in West and East Africa. Reporting to the Global Finance Operations Lead, the RFC combines strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery, travelling up to 50% of the time to support finance teams on the ground.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial oversight, governance and compliance across multiple country offices and partners.
• Strengthen internal control frameworks, risk management and fraud‑prevention initiatives.
• Mentor and develop regional finance teams, delivering training and capability‑building programmes.
• Produce consolidated management accounts, variance analysis and strategic financial performance reports.
• Ensure donor and statutory compliance, supporting grant reporting and audit readiness.
• Travel regularly across the region to deliver hands‑on support and build relationships.

Required profile

• Professionally recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICMA or equivalent).
• Senior‑level financial management experience in the humanitarian/NGO sector.
• Proven track record in financial governance, compliance and internal controls across multiple entities.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Experience managing donor compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluency in English and French.
