Regional Lead in Agroecology Extension

About the role

SOFDI, an NGO operating in Western Kenya, is looking for a Regional Lead in Agroecology Extension to drive farmer training programmes across Vihiga and Kakamega counties. This hands‑on role focuses on sustainable agriculture, field demonstrations and community mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Support, organise and mentor farmer groups, ensuring active participation in the agroecology pathway.
• Lead agroecology training, set up and maintain regional demonstration plots, and roll out new research findings.
• Conduct baseline, implementation and impact assessments, feeding data into M&E systems.
• Incorporate Farmer Research Network insights, identify promising practices and collaborate on field trials.
• Serve as a regional mentor, communicate SOFDI’s vision, and link farmers with services such as seeds, marketing and school‑fee support.

Required profile

• At least 48 months of experience in sustainable agriculture or agroecology.
• Proven ability to mobilise and mentor smallholder farmer groups.
• Strong field research and data‑collection skills.
