Regional Policy Lead – Health Research & Development (Africa)

About the role

The Regional Policy Lead – Health Research & Development will drive policy and advocacy initiatives that strengthen Africa’s health research and innovation ecosystem. Reporting to the Regional Director of the Center for Advocacy and Policy, the role will shape strategies, forge partnerships, and mobilize investments to accelerate development, scale‑up and equitable access to health innovations across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support transformative policy and advocacy efforts focused on health research, development and innovation in Africa.
• Engage with governments, regional bodies, industry, academia, civil society and development partners to translate evidence into actionable policies.
• Build and nurture strategic partnerships that mobilize financing and facilitate market access for health technologies.
• Elevate priority health issues on policy agendas and coordinate coalitions to drive sustainable change.
• Collaborate with PATH’s health innovation portfolio, including market dynamics, product development and vaccine innovation teams.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in health policy, advocacy or research within African contexts.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑sector stakeholders such as governments, regional institutions and private sector partners.
• Strong understanding of health research, development, regulation and market access pathways.
• Excellent communication and coalition‑building skills.
