About the role
The International Organization for Migration is seeking a Regional Staff Counsellor (P) to provide psychosocial support to staff across its Regional Office and Country Offices in East Africa. The role focuses on mitigating stress, enhancing resilience and delivering mental‑health services to managers and employees, especially in emergency‑operation settings.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver confidential individual and group counselling, assessments, short‑term interventions and referrals for staff.
- Advise senior leadership on healthy work practices and resilience‑building strategies.
- Design and facilitate psycho‑educational programmes, workshops and webinars on mental‑health topics.
- Develop a network of external mental‑health providers across the region.
- Provide Critical Incident Stress Management support during and after crises.
- Recommend staff‑support strategies to managers during emergencies.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology, counselling, psychiatry or related field with at least five years relevant experience, or university degree with seven years experience.
- Active licence, certification or professional registration in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum five years post‑licensure counselling experience, including work with UN agencies or humanitarian organisations.
- Familiarity with the impact of humanitarian working conditions on staff well‑being.
- Experience in the East African region is desirable.
