Regional Staff Counsellor (Professional)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Regional Staff Counsellor to provide psychosocial support to staff across its Regional Office and Country Offices. Reporting to the Chief Staff Welfare Officer at Headquarters and supervised administratively by the Senior Regional Resources Management Officer, the counsellor will help ensure the well‑being of employees operating in diverse and often emergency‑focused environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver effective psychosocial support to managers and individual staff members in the region, with particular focus on emergency‑operations locations.
• Assess and address the psychological needs of staff, implementing staff‑welfare activities that mitigate stress and strengthen protective factors.
• Provide a safe, confidential environment for staff to discuss concerns and seek assistance.
• Coordinate with the Director of the Staff Health and Welfare Division to align regional initiatives with global staff‑welfare policies.
• Support the development and delivery of staff‑wellness programs and resources across country offices.

Required profile

• Professional experience in staff welfare, counseling, or psychosocial support within an international or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and regional teams.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by staff in emergency and migration settings.
