Relationship Officer – Biashara Banking

About the role

Equity Bank is seeking a Relationship Officer for its Biashara Banking unit to manage and grow a portfolio of micro‑business customers at the branch level. The role focuses on onboarding retailers, guiding loan applications, and delivering high‑quality customer service while supporting the bank’s financial inclusion goals.

Key responsibilities

• Onboard retailers and customers across digital platforms such as PWE and the EAZZY app; identify leads and recruit new clients.
• Conduct outreach, maintain relationships for retention, and leverage partnerships to expand the customer base.
• Guide customers through loan applications, perform business and home visits to verify information, and ensure timely approval and disbursement within service level agreements.
• Initiate recovery actions for overdue accounts and manage security perfection.
• Execute marketing outreach, cross‑sell and upsell bank products, and recruit ecosystem partners.
• Train branch staff on Biashara Banking lending policies, procedures, and new products; ensure compliance with credit policies.
• Provide prompt, high‑standard customer service, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and promote financial‑literacy training.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date portfolio management toolkit, conduct post‑disbursement visits, and mobilize deposits.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in Education, Social Sciences, or Business‑related fields.
• Overall mean grade of C+ in KCSE.
• 3–4 years of selling experience in the financial services sector; micro‑finance experience is an advantage.
• Project management experience; monitoring and evaluation skills are a plus.
• Strong business relationship management and closure techniques.
• Demonstrated ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.
