Risk and Compliance Manager

About the role

VisionFund Kenya Limited, a Christian micro‑finance institution, is seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager to lead the development and implementation of a robust risk and compliance framework across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational and credit risk management initiatives across branches and departments.
• Monitor portfolio quality, operational losses, fraud risks and the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Develop and maintain enterprise‑wide risk and compliance frameworks aligned with regulatory and VisionFund International standards.
• Serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and coordinate AML/CFT, data protection, digital credit provider and other statutory compliance.
• Prepare risk and compliance reports for senior management, board committees and regulators.
• Coordinate business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery planning (DRP) activities.
• Drive risk awareness, staff training and a strong compliance culture.
• Follow up on audit and compliance recommendations to ensure closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, CRMA, CAMS are an advantage.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in risk management, compliance or internal audit within micro‑finance, banking, SACCO or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk, credit risk, AML/CFT, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, communication and report‑writing skills with high integrity and attention to detail.
