Release of Information Specialist (8am‑4:30pm)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department of VRC Companies, LLC to process medical‑record requests for healthcare clients. The role ensures timely, accurate delivery of information while protecting patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and other federal or state statutes.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, validate and prioritize ROI requests, primarily for Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services.
• Access and retrieve patient records from electronic or physical repositories following client‑specific security protocols.
• Perform quality‑control checks to confirm accuracy, proper invoicing, and avoidance of PHI breaches.
• Document all actions, exceptions and communications in ROI software.
• Alert supervisors to unusual requests, potential breaches, or delays that could impact service delivery.
• Respond to requester inquiries in a respectful and efficient manner.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential health information with strict adherence to privacy regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet turnaround timeframes.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors, clients and requestors.
• Experience in a healthcare‑record environment is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ROI software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, state privacy statutes and related compliance requirements.
• Ability to perform quality‑control checks and accurate invoicing.
