Release of Information Specialist – Full-time (Mon‑Fri)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department of VRC Companies, handling medical record requests for healthcare clients. The role ensures timely, accurate delivery of records while protecting patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and other regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Process Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, prioritizing based on turnaround requirements.
• Validate patient authorizations, classify request types, retrieve and upload medical chart portions, and perform quality control checks to prevent PHI breaches.
• Generate and adjust invoices, document all actions in ROI software, and alert supervisors to any issues, unusual requests, or potential breaches.
• Maintain secure storage of records, manage office supplies, and support additional facilities or request types during backlogs.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (GED) required; degree preferred.
• Prior experience with ROI fulfillment, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English; bilingual skills are a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
• Windows operating environment familiarity.
• Experience with EHR/EMR platforms.
• Operation of office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machines, and microfilm readers.
