Research and Evaluations Lead for Tupande Impact

About the role
The Tupande Research and Evaluations Lead will own all research, evaluation and learning activities for One Acre Fund’s Tupande program in Kenya. You will design impact studies, ensure high‑quality data, and translate findings into actionable insights for program teams and donors.
Key responsibilities
- Lead in‑country impact evaluations, from theory of change and study design to data collection and reporting.
- Develop and continuously improve frameworks for quality assurance, monitoring, analysis and impact reporting.
- Own analysis and reporting of all research data, driving automation and efficiency in data cleaning.
- Partner with program teams to ensure research results are understood, acted upon and inform decision‑making.
- Manage the research team, including hiring, development, performance management and budgeting.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least five years of experience designing and implementing large‑scale evaluations in the developing world.
- Strong analytical background with expertise in experimental and quasi‑experimental designs.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a research team.
- Willingness to live in East Africa for a minimum of two years.
Required skills
- Statistical software proficiency (Stata or R).
- Advanced quantitative techniques such as propensity‑score matching, difference‑in‑differences and regression discontinuity.
- Project management of multiple complex workstreams.
