Restaurant Accountant

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing restaurant in Ruiru, is looking for a dedicated Restaurant Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, support budgeting, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations. The role combines core accounting functions with hands‑on involvement in supplier management and stock control.

Key responsibilities

• Record and categorize all financial transactions, maintaining precise ledgers for income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash‑flow reports.
• Develop, monitor, and adjust budgets for the restaurant, forecasting revenue and expenses and analysing variances.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, manage supplier contracts, and track payments to vendors.
• Oversee stock taking, support purchasing, raise LPOs, obtain quotations, and manage deliveries.
• Issue invoices, track accounts receivable, and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
• Process payroll and remit statutory contributions (VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, catering levy) before deadlines.
• Prepare and submit monthly and annual tax returns, ensuring full compliance.
• Negotiate favourable terms with suppliers and schedule payment cheques.
• Collaborate with external auditors, providing required documentation and insights for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with full CPA‑K qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of comparable experience in hospitality or restaurant accounting.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent time‑management abilities.
• Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
